THE Havant School Games are nearly here.

The huge event involving 16,000 schoolchildren from across the borough, kicks off at the end of this month.

But from Monday Havant Rotary, the organisation behind the games, is giving every child the opportunity to have a free taster session of a wide variety of sports.

Sports clubs across the area will hold after-school session for five to 16-year-olds.

The sports include tennis, sailing, hockey, ten pin bowling, badminton, off road cycling and even indoor bowls.

All sessions will be fully supervised by the clubs which are keen to encourage young people to take up their sport.

Peter Poulton, from Rotary, said: ‘The opportunity to give school pupils the chance to gain experience of sports they have never played is one of our main objectives.’

Full details of venues, dates and times can be found on the Havant School Games website hrsg.co.uk.

Online registration is also available.
