SCHOOL pupils have battled bullying with creativity by taking part in a poster design competition.

Students including Alfie Smith, from Purbrook Park School in Waterlooville, and Ellie Kendrick, from Riverside Community Special School in Waterlooville, won awards for their designs as part of the Hampshire County Council scheme.

Alfie and Ellie, along with eight other pupils from other parts of the county, were commended for their posters at an anti-bullying conference in Winchester.

Councillor Peter Edgar, executive member for education, said the conference explored what bullying meant and what can be done about it.

He said: ‘The conference is an important way we can help empower those young people who have been bullied and show them that they are not alone.’

Cllr Edgar said he wanted to stamp out bullying in schools.

The youngsters were given certificates and book tokens for their efforts.
