AFTER 47 years in teaching, Keith Page’s dedication to enthusing pupils with community and independent spirit has been rewarded.

The personal and social health teacher has led the way at Cowplain Community School as Duke of Edinburgh Award leader and coordinator. The 64-year-old was made an MBE for services to education and voluntary service to young people.

He said: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled and very, very flattered.

‘It started in 1971 when I ran a youth club for children with learning disabilities.

‘Since then it’s been part of my life. It’s very flattering to get this but teaching is a team effort.’
