Regional Lego tournament in Hampshire

STUDENTS from schools across Hampshire will be demonstrating their science and technology skills when they take part in a Lego tournament.

The first Lego league (FLL) regional tournament arrives in Winchester on Thursday.

Teams from 20 schools will be competing against each other at INTECH Science Centre, including Henry Cort Community College in Fareham and Swanmore College of Technology.

Each team, made up of 9 to 16-year-olds, must design and programme a Lego Mindstorms robot and then use it to solve problems and tasks.

Each school has had up to 10 weeks to prepare for Thursday’s event.

The Champion Award winner of the National Final will then go on to St Louis, USA to represent the UK and Ireland in the first Lego League World Festival in April.
