A BEASTLY production of Roald Dahl’s take on Jack and the Beanstalk brought a school hall to life.

Youngsters at Siskin Junior School, in Gosport, delighted their audience with the comic genius’ gory ‘alternative’ version of the famous tale, from his Revolting Rhymes collection.

Nine-year-old Ellie McKinnon, who played the lead role of Jack, pictured with the ‘giant’, said: ‘I was quite nervous when I got the part but I decided to stand up to myself and go for it.

‘The show was amazing and there was even a beanstalk which actually grew!’

The children helped make costumes, posters and sold tickets.

Rebecca Kingsland, executive headteacher, said: ‘I’m so proud of all the children.’
