A TOP-PERFORMING private school in Petersfield has linked up with a state school to offer a sixth-form scholarship to one outstanding student every year.

Bedales School announced the offer for school-leavers at The Petersfield School (TPS) worth £60,000 for a boarder or £48,000 for a day student from September next year.

It is hoped the Bedales and Petersfield School Sixth Form Scholarship will broaden access for students who would not otherwise consider sixth form at an independent school.

TPS head Nigel Poole said: ‘We’re delighted to be working with Bedales on this scholarship scheme – it’s a terrific opportunity.

‘Bedales provides a unique approach to liberal education and the scholarship offer has already proved hugely popular amongst my Year 11 students and their parents.’

This year 40 per cent of all A-levels sat by Bedales students received A* or A grades and seven gained places at Oxbridge.

Youngsters who show outstanding ability will be nominated.
