A SCHOOL in Portsmouth will be given a boost when it receives a coach which will be used to take pupils on days out.

The Variety Club Sunshine Coach will be presented to Milton Park Federated Primary School in Eastney Road, Eastney, on Monday. The gift from Variety Club, a children’s charity which helps schools and children with disabilities, comes as good news to pupils who have had to previously use public transport for visits. The new coach, which is sponsored by hotel De Vere Venues New Place, will be handed over to the school by the hotel’s general manager Mark Sampson at 11am.

Television ventriloquist Steve Hewlett, who is appearing at the Kings Theatre, Southsea, on October 26, will also perform for children on the day. The coach is the 5,214th one donated to schools by Variety Club since 1962.
