STAFF and students at a private school in Petersfield are celebrating their best Oxbridge success in five years.

Ten Bedales boys and girls have between them received nine offers from Oxford and one from Cambridge in subjects including medicine and English.

The news follows nine Oxbridge offers for Bedales students last year.

Headmaster Keith Budge said: ‘Congratulations to our sixth formers.

‘I am delighted with the range and quality of this year’s offers, particularly in light of the increased competition for top university places.

‘It is also very satisfying to see that five of the successful Oxbridge applicants progressed to Bedales from our own junior school, Dunhurst.’

Luke Austen, 18, a current sixth former who has been offered a place to study medicine at Oxford, said: ‘We’ve had great support and advice from our teachers.

‘We’ve been really lucky.’
