Schoolboy pens own lyrics to pop song

An 11-year-old budding songwriter from Hayling Island revised lyrics to a popular hit to reflect life at his former school.

Leon Poulter, who has just finished at Mill Rythe Junior School, Hayling Island, penned a version of Lukas Graham’s number one Seven Years.

Leon, who will attend secondary school in September, described the ups and downs of pupils’ lives as they move through the school.

It became the school song when he and 300 fellow pupils sang it as part of a singalong event at the school.

Headmaster Andrew Stockton said it was a fantastic, stirring piece.
