TWO schools may be merged in a bid to reverse an ‘inadequate’ grade given to one of the schools by Ofsted.

Hampshire County Council is considering a plan to combine Brockhurst Infant and Junior schools in Gosport into one primary as early as next September.

The plan follows the education watchdog’s claim in March this year that the junior school was in bad shape.

There will be public consultations on the plan at Brockhurst Infants on December 8 at 6pm, and at the junior school on December 10 at 6pm.

Executive member for education Councillor Peter Edgar said: ‘I’d encourage as many people to respond to the consultation as possible.

‘That includes local residents and businesses, as well as the school community.

‘I can assure you that their views will be taken into account by officers responsible for drawing up the final proposal, and by me when I consider the proposal and if it should be given the go ahead.’
