SCHOOLCHILDREN took to the stage for the last time for the final of the Portsmouth Schools Music Festival at the Guildhall.

Pupils from Langstone Junior, Ditcham Park, Portsmouth High School and Westover School took part in the festivities.

They were also joined by children from St Swithuns Junior School and Meredith Infant School.

The final night of the festival was packed full with fun as dance groups from Langstone Junior School and Portsmouth High School performed in front of the packed audience along with the Cantilena Youth Choir and also junior and infant school choirs.

Festival leader Sarah Lewis said: ‘This year’s festival has been very successful thanks to everyone involved.

‘We’ve had so many positive comments and feedback saying how much people enjoyed watching the children perform.

‘Everyone had a fantastic night and it really finished the week off in style.

‘The smiles on the children’s faces told you everything you needed to know.’

The Portsmouth Schools Music Festival has been in existence for more than 50 years, giving children from all around the Portsmouth area an opportunity to show off their music and talent.

The festival has invited schools from all over Portsmouth in recent years so children can display their abilities to friends, family and other people around the area. The Portsmouth Schools Music Festival will resume next year.
