A FORMER University of Portsmouth lecturer is launching a new book about Marxism in the city.

John Molyneux is a socialist writer and activist who now lives in Dublin.

He is visiting Southsea Community Centre on Thursday August 9 to launch and promote his latest book, The Point is to Change It! An Introduction to Marxist Philosophy.

An outspoken member of the Socialist Workers Party in Britain and Ireland, Mr Molyneux will give a short talk about his book from 7.30pm and copies will be on sale.

Trade union activist Jon Woods said: ‘A lot of writing about Marxism misrepresents and confuses.

‘John always explains his subject clearly and with a passion that comes from years of involvement in the struggle for socialism. He writes for activists, not academics’.

His previous publications include Marxism and the Party, Rembrandt and Revolution, Anarchism: A Marxist Criticism and Will the Revolution be Televised? A Marxist Analysis of the Media.
