A GROUP of choirboys from Southsea will be joining the royal family at the prestigious Order of the Garter ceremony at Windsor Castle.

The St John’s College Chapel Choir have been invited as guests to the ceremony on Monday.

Ten boys who joined the choir when it was set up three years ago will be attending with two teachers.

The choir has performed at Windsor Castle in the past.

Keith Ellison, head of music at the school, said: ‘I was thrilled. It’s recognition for not just their singing but their whole dignity and behaviour when they go places. They are always commended on their behaviour as well as their singing.’

Oliver Clark, 16, said: ‘I’m just thrilled that we have been asked to come. It’s going to be amazing. I don’t think any of us will get to go to this again.’

Jack Valentine, 15, added: ‘It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance.’
