STUDENTS at a boarding school have been celebrating Safer Internet Day.

Youngsters at St John’s College in Southsea were given control of the college’s Twitter feed for the day, allowing them to post updates about their school day.

Safer Internet Day raises awareness about how to stay safe online.

Assistant pastoral head Matthew Round said: ‘It is essential that we provide our students with the knowledge and tools to deal with modern life. This includes safe interaction online and the use of mobile technologies.

‘I am thrilled by the way in which students and staff have engaged by getting involved in all of the day’s activities.’
