Striking teachers have marched through Portsmouth’s city centre in an organised rally to protest against the government.
Members from the NUT and the NASUWT gathered in Commercial Road this lunchtime to protest against pay, pensions and workload.
Many schools across the area have been closed or partially closed as teachers walked out.
Teachers held placards and marched through the streets.
Kjersti Eldrid, teacher at St Jude’s Primary School, said: ‘Teachers have been constantly under attack. We work long hours and we are all passionate about our jobs.’
Strike action is taking place across the south east, as well as the north east, Cumbria, London and the south west.
