Students look at eco plumbing products

STUDENTS have visited the world’s largest sustainable construction showcase in search of energy-saving products to offer homeowners and businesses in the Portsmouth area.

A total of 30 plumbing students from Highbury College’s Northarbour Centre, travelled to Ecobuild in London as members of Zeolite.

Zeolite is a learning company the college is running to provide students with real-life work experience while they complete their qualifications.

Plumbing student Jay Copper, 26, said: ‘The exhibition itself was brilliant.

‘It was a great opportunity to talk with the companies there about their products and to tell them about what we are doing with Zeolite.

‘It got us thinking about what products would make good business sense for us to install and what would be cost-effective for our customers.’

Amongst the products that interested the students were an energy-efficient boiler, a smart thermostat and an anti-vandalism unbreakable toilet.
