TWO schools and a community group have had a cash boost thanks to a supermarket.

A £15,000 donation from The Southern Co-operative’s Community Support Card scheme has been shared between Lee-on-the-Solent Community First Responders and the Infant and Junior Schools.

The scheme is driven by customers swiping a free green CSC card.

Mary Charlton, headteacher at Lee-on-the-Solent Junior School, said: ‘On behalf of all the children at Lee Juniors I would like to say a huge thank you for the very generous donation.

‘When the school first entered into this scheme we hoped to be receiving a few hundred pounds at the end of the year. The £5,000 raised has been quite extraordinary.

‘Both schools are currently embarking on a joint project to improve provision in our school grounds.

‘We have sought the views of the children, parents, staff and governors and are in discussions with county about how to enhance our beautiful school grounds.’
