STUDENTS from a Portsmouth school have been in the spotlight after they performed their own production of Bugsy Malone.

A group of 35 youngsters from Year 7 up to Year 10 starred in the show, which they performed several times to staff, parents, friends and family.

Drama teacher Sarah Swarbrick said: ‘Staff and students worked extremely hard since March, rehearsing up to three times a week and one weekend to make the production a success. It was a fun-filled, energetic performance full of singing, dancing and splurging.

‘St Edmund’s has not had a whole school production for a few years so the school was very excited. Every night was packed out and the audience were fantastic and very supportive.

‘We had some fabulous comments from the audience.’
