A PROJECT associated with Pompey in the Community and the Respect programme has won a national award.

The Kickz Awards recognise community projects that use sport to tackle antisocial behaviour.

Policing Minister Damian Green attended the event to present the Outstanding Kickz Delivery award to Pompey’s Kickz Team, who arrange football and drama sessions for 12 to 18-year-olds.

Julian Wadsworth, Respect programme manager, said: ‘This is great news and further recognition of Portsmouth FC and Pompey in the Community’s work supporting local and Government priorities.

‘I am so proud of the Respect Programme team, including coordinator Jamie Harris and Tony Hewett who have both led from the front, delivering to young people in the SE part of the city, offering sports, arts, training and volunteering, providing positive outcomes for young people and local communities.’
