HE MAY be the tiger who came to tea, but he’s also the big cat who went to visit the Little Spinnaker Pre-school.

Youngsters were thrilled by the furry feline when he made a surprise visit to their group in Christ Church hall, Milton Road, Portsmouth, to promote the show of the same name, based on a popular children’s book, which is coming to the Kings Theatre in Southsea.

Sandra Smith, Kings’ promotions manager, said: ‘We had to be very careful because he was so big and we didn’t want to scare them, but he crept in and did it very gently – they loved him.

‘The story was read to them and the tiger acted it out for them.

‘They were absolutely enthralled and they enjoyed cuddling him too.’

She added her thanks to Jesters fancy dress in Copnor for the loan of the tiger costume.

The show runs on April 9 and 10.
