A PONY, a pig, chicks, goats, sheep and many more farm animals were popular guests at a nursery school in Southsea.

About 200 youngsters at Brambles Nursery School and Children’s Centre were thrilled to spend the day with members of Miller’s Ark mobile farm.

Headteacher Allison Gale said: ‘The animals visit us every year and the children always have a great time. The chicks were very popular because the boys and girls were allowed to hold them.

‘We have been doing a lot of reading and art on the subject of animals and it is lovely to bring that to life.’

She added: ‘Living in the middle of a city means it’s not easy for children to see animals for real – so we bring the animals to them instead!’
