THE tale of the three little pigs is coming to life at a primary school in Portsmouth where children are building houses out of brick, wood and straw.

Youngsters at Medina Primary are enjoying their topic of fairy tales which is inspiring writing, mathematics, role-playing and even the occasional spot of building.

Laura Cudlip, reception teacher at the Cosham school, said: ‘The children are doing fantastic work in the builders’ yard and they make very convincing workmen!

‘We’re always trying to find ways to bring the curriculum to life and role-plays are a great way to develop the social skills of speaking and listening, as well as engaging the children in reading, writing and maths.’
