WORK on a new business school will get under way within weeks.

Havant Sixth Form College’s new Business School will house the teaching of A-level business studies, economics, accounting and law.

The work, by Fareham based The Drew Smith Group, is due for completion by April 2013.

Over the summer break the college has also been refurbishing other parts of the campus.

Around £3m has been spent on the New Road site over the past few years.

This has included the completion of a state-of-the-art suite of eight science labs and the expansion of the learning resource centre and IT facilities.

College principal John McDougall said: ‘The college’s learning resources are exceptional with computer numbers close to one PC to every student.

‘The new business school will further enhance the quality of our learning environment.’

Stuart Munro, Drew Smith Group managing director, said: ‘As a regional contractor we’re delighted to be involved in the delivery of this exciting project which will provide new, high quality, adaptable learning facilities for the college which have the potential for further expansion.’

Students last week celebrated great exam results with a pass rate in excess of 98 per cent. Three quarters of students achieved A* to C grades at A-level.
