STUDENTS have been rewarded for their hard work at an awards evening.

High-achieving pupils from Horndean Technology College attended a formal evening dedicated to their successes over the past year.

The evening, sponsored by Nursery Fresh, began with certificates being awarded to students who had been nominated by their teachers for high achievement in four to ten subject areas.

There were also community awards such as Sportsperson of the Year and Young Creative Writer as well as solo presentations on students’ favourite subjects such as geography, IT, and history.

Mark Denman, year 10 leader, said ‘I am fantastically proud. It’s the highlight of my whole year.’

Headteacher Julie Summerfield, said: ‘The people who were successful this evening are role models to us all.’

Student Jamie Wernham, who received the Scott Donnelly ICT Award, said: ‘The evening was amazing and I am so proud of everyone who got an award. I wasn’t expecting mine at all.’
