A PRE-SCHOOL in Portsmouth has been awarded the best possible Ofsted rating as every single category was marked ‘outstanding’.

Parade Community pre-school, Hilsea, which shares a site with Northern Parade Infants, was given high praise for exceptional teaching and excellent progress for both girls and boys.

The inspector noted strong links with its host school and said children were ‘well prepared for the next stage in their education’.

The report, which followed an inspection in July, read: ‘Overall the quality of the provision is outstanding.

‘Managers are exceptionally well focused at embedding ambition and driving improvement.

‘Resources are excellent and organised very efficiently which makes it easy for children to access exactly what they need.

‘Children visit their classrooms in the infant school during the summer term. There is very close liaison to ensure a smooth transition.

‘Children’s achievement is outstanding in all areas of learning because most practitioners are exceptionally skilled in supporting children through questioning and guidance.

‘All children, and particularly boys, make excellent progress. Children are well prepared for the next stage of their education.’

Parade Community has 80 children from two years to eight years on its roll.
