MORE youngsters took to the stage in the southern finals of Rock Challenge.

Mayville High School and Portsmouth College were among schools from the Portsmouth area whose pupils wowed the judges and the audience with their routines.

King Richard School, Mayville High School and Portsmouth College represented the city with the latter two winning third and fourth place.

Stuart McGregor, organiser, said: ‘The three schools were phenomenal.

‘Portsmouth College and Mayville both finished in the top five so we were among the best in the country. It was so fantastic to see two local schools do so well. The atmosphere on the whole day was amazing.

‘The three schools took over the place with their passion and their quality.

‘They wowed the judges and the audience were very impressed.

‘The schools made the day and it’s great that they were representing the city and the area.’

Each school put on a very different production with Mayville High School showing iconic moments in the history of flight and Portsmouth College telling the story of Maggie, an unconventional and outspoken daughter of a wealthy family.
