Infant school rated ‘good’ four years after being placed into special measures

THE University of Portsmouth has appointed two new Pro Vice-Chancellors to join the senior management team.

Professor Paul Hayes has been appointed as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Experience) and Professor Pal Ahluwalia as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation).

Professor Hayes has been Dean of the University’s Faculty of Science since 2008, having previously held senior positions at the University of Bristol.

Professor Pal Ahluwalia is currently Pro Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President of Education Arts and Social Sciences at the University of South Australia.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Graham Galbraith said: ‘I am very pleased that these two outstanding individuals will be joining the senior leadership team.

‘They will both play a crucial role in shaping our future success by supporting our strong reputation for providing an outstanding student experience underpinned by excellence in research and innovation.’

Professor Hayes will start on Monday, September 1 and Professor Ahluwalia will start on Wednesday, October 8.
