UNIVERSITY lectures will be taking place outside the classroom for residents in Fratton.

The Pop-up University programme, set up by community enterprise Shake Culture Works, will tackle academic research in venues other than the university buildings.

It will look at health, social sciences and economics in a range of public and private spaces across the area.

The Southern Housing Group Residents’ Association has been invited to the talks, which are a trial before the programme will hopefully open to the public in September.

Art workshops will follow the lectures, which launch on Monday, in Sydenham Court, Fratton, from 10am until 2pm.

Christine Gardner, on behalf of the group, said: ‘We are very pleased to be involved in this new venture which has generated interest from residents of Sydenham Court.’
