STUDENTS from the University of Portsmouth will launch a three-day fashion extravaganza at Gunwharf Quays with a bit of fun.

Sarah Packer, 21, August Hart, 20, Amy Reid, 20 and Nicola Zachariades, 21, promise to entertain audiences at the Closer to Fashion event with a catwalk where models ‘act’ in the style of their clothes.

Their theme is vintage and models will be armed with props like old bikes and suitcases to bring the theme to life.

The first year undergraduates will also present a film about the designers and their clothes, featuring Dead Man’s Glory of Albert Road and Hampshire-based online jeweller Furie Belle.

Sarah, who is studying creative writing and drama, said: ‘This is not about high fashion, we’re having fun with it.

‘We want our models to bring the clothes to life, in a “pin up girl” style rather than anything too serious.

‘It’s been hard work but we’re all so excited.’

The show in the central square is at 7pm on May 18.
