AFTER an overwhelming response to a proposal to create a Havant branch of a unique learning group it is now fully up and running.

The University of the Third Age has branches all over the area but was lacking one in Havant.

Judith Worley put the word out to see how popular the idea would be and she was overwhelmed by the response.

Mrs Worley said: ‘It’s all set to go. Official approval was given at a meeting of the steering committee with the Third Age Trust’s national and regional executives.

‘There has been a lot to learn about this excellent organisation.

‘We are a movement founded on high ideals of opportunity for our community, but the practicalities and responsibilities are complex and have to be very thoroughly covered before we can begin”.

Interest groups include gardening, current affairs, walking, foreign languages, literature, poetry and local history.

Havant U3A will meet on July 19, 2.30 pm at the United Reformed Church, Havant.
