MOTORISTS keen to cut garage bills and save pennies by carrying out simple tasks on their car can sign up for a new course.

South Downs College, in Waterlooville, is running the course in the new year.

No formal qualifications are needed for car maintenance for beginners, just a desire to learn what happens under the bonnet.

Students will learn basic maintenance tasks required to keep your car running smoothly and reliably, including fluid level checks, tyres, legal and MOT requirements; and spark plugs.

The course will be delivered in workshop and includes a small amount of theory. Everything will be aimed at the absolute beginner.

It is expected to start early in the new year.
