STUDENTS have been putting their computer skills to the test in a web design competition.

The students from Highbury College in Portsmouth, Fareham College and the College of North West London went to Highbury to take part in the competition, which focuses on the essential requirements for a career in web design.

Ashley Ford-Hibberd, 16, is one of Highbury’s Level 3 software development students who took part. He said: ‘The competition tests us on all sorts of elements of web design from Java Script to CSS. We have to work to a time limit which is really good experience going into a career and the competition gives me a chance to test my skills against students from other colleges.’

This was one of six nationwide heats with the winners taking part in a national final in November at the NEC Birmingham.
