MORE than 100 pensioners enjoyed a Christmas party organised by University of Portsmouth students.

Everyone was in excellent spirits as they tucked into a delicious meal at the Landport Community Centre, watched students perform belly dancing and even hit the dancefloor themselves to the sounds of festive favourites.

Emily Ohlsson, president of the student union’s volunteering group, said: ‘Some people might be alone at Christmas, so it was a good opportunity to come out and have some fun.

‘These events also improve links between students and elderly people.’
