YOUNGSTERS were treated to a fun-filled evening of reading when they were visited by some of their favourite TV characters.

Children from Lee-on-the-Solent Infant School welcomed Portsmouth Power Rangers to promote reading to the younger generation.

Deputy head Julie Roche said: ‘It was a fantastic evening where the school community came together to share the joy of reading.

Ines Topps, the school’s English manager, enjoyed the night saying: ‘It was an amazing event with a real buzz about it.’

The Rangers were also thrilled to be part of the excitement.

Power Ranger David Oaks said: ‘As Rangers, lots of kids look up to us, so having them read and talk to us about their favourite books is something they will hopefully continue.

‘It was wonderful to see these kids so excited to be reading.

‘We’d like to think we inspired a few of them to pick up a book.’

All proceeds went to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
