BALLET lit up the stage during the dance section of this year’s Portsmouth Music Festival.

Many genres of dance were on display over the eight days of competition and the high standards of the festival continued.

But, ballet stole the show with Waterside School of Dance putting on an award-winning performance.

Lucy Glasspool, four, was one young contestant who stunned the audience. She came first in the class 901 ballet under five years at Chichester Festival for Music, Dance and Speech.

The competition took place on February 16 at Park Community School.

A spokesperson for Portsmouth Music Festival said: ‘The contestants were of the highest standards as normal.

‘It is always popular and shows the talent we have here.’
