FAMILIES stuck for ideas to entertain the kids this summer can enjoy Portsmouth City Council’s six free adventure playgrounds.
Throughout the summer holidays each playground will host a free themed mini-festival every Friday between midday and 4pm.
In Paulsgrove on August 3, and Buckland on August 24, the adventure playgrounds promise exciting wild west activities, while Portsea hosts an urban street party, featuring BMX and skateboarding demonstrations, on August 31.
On August 10, Lanport is offering visitors a trip to the seaside to enjoy ice creams and shows.
Somers Town adventure playground is offering cakes and refreshments, and youngsters can enjoy arts and crafts on August 17.
The council’s library vans will visit the festivals at Landport and Somers Town for children who enjoy reading.
Portsea adventure playground will be even more exciting as a new workshop, built with the help of the local community, will help children learn building skills.
The splash pool has also been removed to allow children more space to play.
For more information about opening times, visit portsmouthcc.gov.uk and search for adventure playgrounds.
The playgrounds are aimed at children aged between six and 13.
