BUDDING filmmakers are being encouraged to make a short movie for a competition.

Shorts Cut, organised by the Portsmouth Film Society, gives filmmakers a chance to produce a video, which is then screened.

Films entered must have a principal cast or crew member that lives or studies in Hampshire, or shot predominantly in this area.

The maximum running time is 15 minutes, including titles, end credits and music.

People must have clearance for all copyrighted material in the film.

There is a £5 administration fee for each film entered, which needs to be submitted in a PAL format only, by Friday.

Selected films will be screened at The Omega Centre in Somers Town.
