Plans for historic street

PLANS have been submitted to convert a historic property in the heart of Havant into a house.

Developers have put forward plans to turn the property at 13 East Street, sandwiched between The Bear Hotel and the former hardware shop Streets, into a four-bedroom home.

As previously reported, the historic thoroughfare is littered with empty shops after suffering a decline over the last decade.

The property in East Street was the home of Glanvilles Solicitors until five years ago when it moved to Langstone Gate, in Solent Road.

The applicant, Mr Rea, of Rowlands Castle, has applied to the council for a change of use to residential.

The plans are out for consultation until the end of the month. Planners are expected to make a decision by the end of March.

Good luck to Mr.Rea but would anyone like to live that near to the lowlife who drink in that area at weekends? Having your front door on East Street would be a nightmare.
