HUNDREDS of beautiful birds went on a show at an annual display.
Almost 500 rare and exotic caged birds were displayed at the Solent Caged Bird Society exhibition at the Parish Hall in Castle Street, Portchester.
Scores of people dropped by to see the impressive collection and there were prizes awarded for the best in show.
Terry Sayers, club secretary, said: ‘It was fantastic – the show was a great success.
‘There were some fantastic exhibits.’
Mr Sayers said that people came from all over the country with some of the best birds coming from local exhibitors.
He said: ‘Bird-keeping is one of the most popular hobbies in the world.
‘Wherever you go all over the world and the continent there are people keeping birds.
‘We’re very lucky to have some of the best birds right here in Hampshire.’
The show is put on every year by the society and is one of the highlights of any caged bird enthusiast’s year.
