PLUMES of smoke could be seen after an explosion on a boat.

Three people were on a boat docked in the Portsmouth Marine Engineering, Lower Quay Street, Fareham, when there was an explosion in the cabin. Two people were treated for smoke inhalation, while one person suffered a head injury.

The incident happened at around 1pm yesterday.

Two crews from Fareham and one from Hightown were sent. It took 20 minutes to put out the blaze.

An investigation into the cause is taking place, but may have been due to a gas leak.
