HAVING a nasty fall can be devastating for the elderly.

That’s why Hampshire County Council has organised a series of courses to raise awareness.

The council, along with Southern Health Foundation Trust, has organised eight half-day workshops which provide information and guidance on how to teach older people suitable exercises to improve their balance and prevent falls.

The workshops, which are free for voluntary and community organisations, will provide guidance on fall prevention.

The training is aimed at people working in community groups, day centres and sheltered housing schemes.

The courses are being held at Gosport Training at The Anchorage, Crofton Community Centre in Stubbington and Cowplain Community School Business Centre. Visit hants.gov.uk/betterbalance or call (01962) 846605.
