THE need for more teachers has prompted two councils to join forces and host a pair of recruitment fairs.
Hampshire County Council and Isle of Wight Council are planning to run the fairs on on January 20 at Princes Hall, Aldershot and on February 3 at Havant Leisure Centre.
Both fairs will run from 2pm to 7pm.
Hampshire’s executive member for education, Councillor Peter Edgar, said: ‘We are committed to creating new school places and are on track with a three year programme, representing over £150 million of investment, to expand many of our schools and build several new schools.
‘Like other parts of the country, our schools have found it challenging to recruit strong fields of candidates to vacant teacher posts.
‘This is despite the attraction of a competitive salary and the opportunity to live and work in an area where there is unspoilt countryside, vibrant cities and a thriving economy.’
People attending the fairs will be able to meet teachers already working in the region.
