COMMUTERS faced hours of delay after a tree fell on to a train line.

South West Trains said the obstruction was on the line at Haslemere, and was reported shortly after 5pm.

It caused delays between Guildford and Havant.

The line was cleared at about 7pm, but there was still more misery for commuters as a backlog of trains needed to be cleared.

Services between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour were affected until about 9pm.
