THREE fallen trees have forced Tangier Road, in Copnor, to be closed.

Colas is on the scene trying to clear the three trees which fell due to strong winds and are blocking the road.

Two teams have been sent by the contractors who also have to deal with dangerous trees and branches that could become hazardous.

The road is expected to be closed for most the day.

Travel services have been disrupted with the Hovertravel service between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight suspended until further notice.

A charter vessel will be running from Portsmouth Harbour at 4.40pm and 6.45pm and from Ryde Pier Head at 5.25pm.

The Hayling Ferry has also been suspended because of the poor weather.

A series of trains have been cancelled on South West Trains services across its network

Elsewhere, Canoe Lake overflowed and the streets flooded near St Helen’s Parade, in Southsea.

Portsmouth and Southsea Cricket Club’s pitch, near the Tenth Hole, has also flooded.

Firefighters were called to the Pyramids Centre after heavy rain caused flooding in an electrical room.
