MOURNERS gathered today to remember Pompey legend Cliff Portwood at his funeral.

Around 100 people packed into St Lawrence church in Alton to pay their respects to the former player who died last week.

The 74-year-old had been suffering from a lung condition.

Tributes were paid to him by his three children Debbie Poyser, Lucy Pegden and Andrew Portwood, who spoke of his love for singing.

Lucy said: ‘Our father was a real entertainer and showman, be it on stage or pitch; qualities that were built into his core.

‘Nothing could compare to the thrill of entertaining, for him it was his whole life and we understand that now.’
