FIRE ripped through a kitchen early today after a bag was left on top of a cooker.

The occupants, a woman in her 30s and her daughter, managed to get out of the house after being alerted by their smoke detector.

Two engines from Fareham Fire Station were called to the terrace house, in Privett Road, Fareham, at 4.52am,

They had the blaze under control by 5.10am.
