TANKS and a helicopter were just some of the attractions at the Royal Marines Museum in Eastney.

They were there to give families the chance to learn more about the Royal Marines and their day-to-day lives.

Commando Action, formally known as Meet the Marines, gave children the opportunity to fight for the treasure chest in a laser quest battle, see inside a helicopter, ride in a Viking tank and watch marines fly down a zip line.

Jane Hodgkins, marketing manager at the museum, said: ‘It was such a fabulous day.

‘It was great seeing the children running around outside being all energetic.

‘We had about 1,400 people turn up which was great, especially as the weather was a bit rubbish. Families enjoyed the School of Music which is always fantastic.

‘Everyone had a true marines spirit.’
