Clare Lowery was found dead in her Havant home on March 18.

Now, an inquest into her death has revealed that she took her own life.

The coroner’s court heard that after the death of her partner six years ago, Clare developed addictions to drugs and alcohol, seeking help at a number of services including Parkway Centre in Havant.

According to a statement from her brother Malcolm Lowery, Clare phoned the family to say she would be taking her own life.

He rushed to her home upon hearing the news, but could not get inside the house.

Emergency services were called to the scene, pronouncing Miss Lowery dead soon after.

Coroner Robert Stone suggested Clare may not have told the full story of her situation to staff at the services she visited.

Mr Lowery said: ‘She was very good at acting
and putting a brave face on things.

‘But you could tell when she was having a bad day, because she wouldn’t have any makeup on and the house would be a mess.

Coroner Robert Stone said to the family: ‘You say she was good at hiding her symptoms, so perhaps it is possible she wasn’t treated as aggressively as she might otherwise have been.’

Clare’s father Steve Lowery said: ‘Clare was a loving mum with two children.

‘She was with their father until he passed away six years ago.

‘After that, she fell in with the wrong sort of crowd.’

Coroner Robert Stone said: ‘You are all very lucky to be such a close family unit.’
