Have your say

A DAD is raising cash to say thank you for cancer treatment he received.

Dean Rushforth, of Gosport, needed a bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with myeloma.

He got the transplant in 2012 and was impressed with the care he received at Southampton General Hospital.

He’s now putting on a fun day at Gosport and Stokes Bay Golf Club in Fort Road, Gosport, to raise cash for the leukaemia and bone marrow transplant fund at the hospital.

Mr Rushforth’s wife Jackie said: ‘We want to give something back as a family and by supporting the C6L Leukaemia and Bone Marrow Transplant Fund we hope to help the hospital continue their remarkable work.’

The family-of-four is putting on the event tomorrow, with a nine-hole golf competition from 1pm to 4pm costing £5 for members and £10 for visitors. Children’s entertainment runs from 2pm to 4pm and an afternoon tea dance starts at 4pm at £5 a ticket.

Live entertainment starts at 7.30m – tickets are £3.50 each.
