BOXING fans are being invited to a family fun run to raise cash for a local club.

Team Wiseman members train at the Acorn Centre, in Wecock, and need a cash injection for new equipment.

At 1pm on Saturday dozens of people will wear fancy dress costumes for the four-mile sponsored walk and run around Wecock.

Daron Wiseman, the head coach, said: ‘If it wasn’t for the Acorn Centre and the support of the people in Wecock the club wouldn’t be where it is today.

‘I’ve been a coach for 10 years and watched all the boys grow up and as a club we have done our best to point the boys in the right direction.

‘The coaches give up four to five evenings a week to help our boxers who are achieving great results with a 70 per cent success rate but we don’t only train people to box, we also have kids and adults who come along just for fun and for fitness.

‘Boxing is a great sport – not only does it help fitness, but it helps children gain confidence, discipline, control, skills and ability which helps with all aspects of life.’

To take part just turn up on the day.
